When the network meets the sea<\/h1><\/div>

Prefabricated data centers for the landing station of an international submarine cable<\/h3><\/div>

In the context of major international digital infrastructures, the speed of information exchange is a critical factor. The project related to the submarine cable between Europe and India was created to ensure reliable, ultra-low latency connections along a strategic backbone for global data traffic. <\/p>\n

In this scenario, data centers do not play a secondary role; they become key nodes in the network, designed to ensure operational continuity even under particularly complex environmental conditions.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Starting needs<\/h3><\/div>

The project required the construction of data centers dedicated to the submarine cable landing stations, with the goal of minimizing latency in the exchange of information between different continents. The infrastructures had to be reliable, highly resilient, and capable of operating near the sea an environment characterized by high humidity and a strong risk of corrosion. <\/p>\n

In addition, there was the need to guarantee the highest operational continuity standards, in line with critical infrastructures on an international scale. The data centers were therefore designed according to ANSI\/TIA standards, achieving a Level 4 resilience rating. <\/p>\n

The partner selection took place through an international tender, in which DataDom stood out for its design approach and for the solutions adopted in response to the site\u2019s environmental conditions.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The DataDom solution<\/h3><\/div>

The solution involved the construction of three prefabricated data centers, installed in Liguria, Corsica, and Lazio, designed and manufactured in modules, shipped in four sections, and assembled directly on site.<\/p>\n

An approach that optimized logistics and ensured precision and construction quality, even in complex geographical and operational contexts.
To address the marine environmental conditions, the structures were built entirely in stainless steel a decisive solution to counter corrosion and ensure long-term durability.<\/p>\n

From a plant engineering perspective, the data centers integrate IT racks, electrical switchboards, generators, and fire protection systems, as well as a cooling system specifically designed for aggressive environments, with a condensing unit treated with anti-corrosion epoxy coating.<\/p>\n<\/div>

An invisible yet essential infrastructure<\/h3><\/div>

This project represents a concrete example of how seemingly discreet infrastructures are fundamental to the functioning of major global communication networks, where reliability, operational continuity, and design quality make the difference.<\/p>\n

An infrastructure conceived to ensure long-term performance and security for a strategic connection such as the Europe\u2013India submarine cable, serving global connectivity.<\/p>\n<\/div>
